Problem Note 60697: SAS® Contextual Analysis TERMS task gives "ERROR: A floating point exception or access violation occurred that prevents progress of the analysis"
The SAS® Contextual Analysis TERMS task might fail with following error message:
ERROR: A floating point exception or access violation occurred that prevents progress of the analysis.
That error is displayed when PROC HPTMINE (a procedure that the task invokes) fails with this error:
ERROR: The input buffer for applying the .li model is empty.
The problem occurs when the text in one the documents to be parsed begins with a leading null-character that is represented by '00'x in hexadecimal notation.
To prevent the error, use the TRANSLATE() function to replace the leading null character in the text document. Replace the null character with a blank space ('20'x in hexadecimal notation), or with any suitable character.
Example:
text_variable=TRANSLATE(text_variable,'20'x,'00'x,);
After making the above modification, re-run the task. PROC HPTMINE and the SAS Contextual Analysis TERMS task should complete successfully.
